Doze Butler, a professor at Southern University in Louisiana, daughter of Rosa Lee Butler, granddaughter of David Jones was featured on a Louisiana News station this week and honored for her leadership and example of service in the community. Doze has created a model of service in her classroom by enabling students to excel in their academic environment while helping others in need. Her example of leadership has fostered the inner drive in her students to continue to serve the community without the incentive of class credits. She is an inspiration to her students and the community and we are proud that she is part of the Jones family.
She shared about her motivation for "giving back." Doze reflected on the positive impact others left on her when she was a child. Her community reached out to support her family when she lost her home to fire just before Christmas.
How timely. Another Jones family member has recently been affected by a fire to their home. Let her example inspire us to uplift another family in need. We never know how our good deeds today pay forward in the future.
